It was adopted on 12 June 1989 and the EU member states had to transpose it into their national laws until 31 December 1992.〔(National provisions communicated by the member states concerning Council Directive 89/391/EEC of 12 June 1989 on the introduction of measures to encourage improvements in the safety and health of workers at work )〕 ==Content== It also provides the enabling framework for a number of other individual directives concerned with specific aspects of health and safety.
